FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Which cedar is the best for making long lasting fences? Use natural hill country cedar, sometimes called "mountain cedar". We carry these posts and many other varieties.
For fence posts, is it better to use posts that have been peeled or should we leave the bark on? Peeled post last much longer because this process removes the bark which traps moisture, promoting rot, and removes the home for bugs that will eat the cedar. We can supply the cedar posts in many varieties.
Which cedar is best for furniture and trim/accent work? Red cedar is denser and stronger, making it idea for making furniture that will sustain weight (chairs, tables, beds, etc.). However, our natural cedar, after being milled into dimensional wood, has may voids in the wood. This results in a much weaker product and is not recommended for weight bearing applications but does make beautiful accent and trim material. We can supply dimensional wood in a wide selection of varieties.
Can I obtain bark mulch and saw dust from you? Subject to availability of our time and available supply, we will give mulch and saw dust to you. Bring a trailer or truck bed or containers and we will use our front end loader to bulk load for you. Free!
